The lack of readily available lumber, suitable for flooring, has caused a stir among business and consumers. Flooring manufactures have increased their purchasing, but were not receiving nearly as much as needed. A steady rise in prices, most notably Red Oak, has climbed over 20% just since 3/01/2012.
With a slow down at furniture companies during this same period, the price growth seems uncalled for. Flooring, and molding companies have seen strong growth, relating to increased remodeling of homes.
